Objectives and outcomes

Introduction to the basics of music theory, i.e. fundamental musical terminology and the basics of sound
acoustics. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to master the basic theory of music.
Special attention is paid to musical terminology and the laws of acoustics. Students improve their skills
in the field of music production.

Lectures

Music concepts. Song and composition analysis. Musical forms. The notion of musical intervals and their
mutual relations. The notion of sonograms and the frequency range of different musical instruments. The
concept of frequency and the colour of sound. Critical listening. The concept of digital and analog
audio signal. Digital domains of audio format. Audio signal streams. The concept of quality sound.
Aliquots. Musical notation.
